About Us
Born in 1890, Essie Quattlebaum was a wife, farmer, and mother of nine. The matriarch of the family, she lived in rural
Lexington County, South Carolina on land she and her
husband Andrew purchased. Essie was a farmer on
the homestead and a housekeeper by trade.
Affectionately called “Litt” by her husband Andrew,
Essie was a soft-spoken, smart, quick-witted,
fun-loving woman who enjoyed quilting and
caring for her family. With no formal education,
Essie managed 100+ acres of farmland and
raised horses, guineafowl, chickens, pigs,
cows, and ducks. Litt Lizzy Farms is named in
honor of our beautiful and hard-working matriarch,
Essie Quattlebaum.
Rich history. Rich soil.
